Startup Scaleup – an accelerator run by a Startup Europe/European Commission partnership – opened applications for their second class.
Startup Scaleup is a unique accelerator program for a number of different reasons. Firstly, it is focused exclusively on IoT startups. The reasons for this are quite simple. As the program notes on F6S:
Our focus is on the Internet of Things. Why? Because the market potential for developing new products and services is huge: in 2020, IoT product and service suppliers are predicted to generate incremental revenue in excess of € 240 billion. Because we have the technological infrastructure that can help entrepreneurs to test their ideas in near market conditions. Because we can provide the technical and business training that is necessary to take the venture to the real world and help it grow.1
Startup Scaleup also has a unique program structure and benefits package.
The program is 6-months long, and takes place in several different locations. The first week is an intensive, hands-on affair, with the startups meeting in their home hubs of either:
- Vilnius, Lithuania
- Zoetermeer, Netherlands
- Dublin, Ireland
- Madrid, Spain
After this first week, the program moves online with “further workshops as well as “Ask Me Anything” sessions with top startups players.”
Perhaps the most unique thing about Startup Scaleup is the equity and funding structure, or the lack thereof:
Startup Scaleup does not offer any financial contributions to selected startups. The added value of Startup Scaleup is access to tools and people that can help speeding-up the process of bringing your IOT innovation to the market and to the clients. It comes in form of access to prototyping facilities, help with licensing, access to mass manufacturers, help with IOT focused fundraising etc.2
The program concludes with the teams getting a chance to pitch investors at a demo day at one of Europe’s largest tech events of the year. This year, the demo day will take place at Connected Conference in Paris. For more info check out the video below, or head over to Startup-Scaleup.eu, or apply for the program atF6S.
